How did the idea of The She-Shed get started?
The She-Shed was originally just a storage shed on our property that we used for storing household items like Christmas decorations, collectibles, sports equipment, supplies for hobbies, seasonal clothing and lots of other family items that just didn't fit in the house. The reason we originally bought the shed 20 years ago was to keep the garage for our cars and not fill it up with "stuff". My husband always had his own Tool Shed for his stuff.
For years, on weekends, my Mom & I used to love going to Yard Sales, Flea Markets and bargain hunting in our favorite stores. SOme things we collected and some we sold on EBay. Several years ago, as my parents health started deteriorating, we had to make some changes as a family to accommodate them. They moved next door to us and most of their life long collectibles ended up being packaged and stored in my shed. My life became so focused on taking care of them and making sure they felt comfortable and promised they would never be sent to a nursing home.
It wasn't until my Mom passed away that I realized just how much we did together, how much fun we had shopping and selling things and how empty my life was without her. Both my husband and my dad encouraged me to try to keep those memories alive and continue that "fun" shopping spree in whatever way possible. When Mom passed, I was put in an awkward position of selling some of her unopened medical supplies, things that Dad wanted sold and new tagged, never worn clothing. When I'd give Dad the money after things sold, he always complained how he felt ripped off at all of the fees that were taken from those sales. He told me "figure out a way avoid dealing with those crooks, I know you can do it"....lol.
After my Dad passed away, late in 2021, I made a promise to myself that I'd figure out a way to sell his things without giving most of the proceeds to the big corporations in all kinds of fees. That's when I realized, its time to turn my SHE-SHED into something positive that Mom & Dad would be proud of. They'd always say "Don't Worry, Be Happy!" ... "Everything always works out in the end!" ... "You can do anything you put your mind to!"
What really happens in The She-Shed?
It took a few months to gather what I needed and to organize all of the stuff our family had collected over the years. I converted my messy shed into an official She-Shed Online Shopping Store for people to buy awesome things at really good prices. The She-Shed was renovated, I set up an online store and a YouTube Channel. I even have a small area in my shed set up for taking pictures and editing videos.
Now you are all welcome to visit The She-Shed any time of the day or night to look for something to buy and add to your own collections! I accept PayPal and I will ship anywhere in the Continental United States via US Post Office with tracking and insurance. I am currently only shipping within the United States because international shipping rates are insane! If you really want something from the SHE-SHED and you're willing to pay the International shipping costs, we can work something out, just send me an email.
I work in and out of the SHE-SHED all day, taking pictures of items, pulling orders, packaging items for shipping, working on YouTube Videos and answering emails. If you need to ask me any questions, or need more pictures taken, you can always e-mail support@she-shed.com and I will get back to you before the end of the day.
Depending on tips we get on private sales, yard sales, garage sales or estate sales, we go on a little shopping sprees to see what we can add to the SHE-SHED.COM site. We're always hunting down bargains for you. We love it!
